This report was prepared in support of an evaluation of the Bureau of Mines advancing oil shale mining technology program. The evaluation is described in part within a companion volume entitled benefit-cost analysis. The economic models outlined provide a quantitative basis for the assessment of program benefits. Reference is made to estimated oil shale mine costs to delineate the beneficial impacts that can be expected to accrue for the future implementation of program-developed technology. Estimated mine cost data are provided for surface, underground, and modified in situ oil shale mining operations.
