Abstract
The report was prepared under a Bureau of Mines grant to determine the feasibility of using shaped charges in horizontal boreholes to fracture and increase the in situ permeability of coal. The work was exploratory and a review of results after the first phase was completed indicated that increasing the permeability by the use of shaped explosive charges was neither technically feasible nor practically acceptable.
