Abstract
This report describes the program that studied the theoretical and practical aspects of the belt cleaning systems, investigated the possibilities of a self-replacing and/or self-adjusting belt cleaning device, and designed a horizontal pentagonal turret setup for the underground mine belt conveyors. This design resulted from comprehensive literature surveys (both academic and commercial), actual mine visits, and studies of the mechanics of belt cleaning and bench-type experiments. The report has complete working drawings and rough cost estimates.
