NTIS: PB/267-978 Available for Reference At Bureau Libraries :150 pages
This study presents a program to develop a new and more cost effective equipment system, incorporating a winch-pulled dozer blade, for leveling spoil and performing reclamation of area strip mines. Attention was directed to the midwestern mines and the many western mines that utilize area mining methods. In addition, it concentrated on the problem of leveling fresh spoil or performing "keep up" reclamation. This is of immediate need owing to present state law requirements and the uncertainty of future legislation regarding orphan spoil territory.
