One-hour Self-rescue Breathing Apparatus.

This report describes a 1-hour, 4.5-Pound, self-contained emergency breathing apparatus. The apparatus was tested and approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the Mining Enforcement and Safety Administration for use in underground coal mines. It provides a minimum of 1 hour of breathable atmosphere during escape from a mine with contaminated or oxygen-deficient atmosphere.
