Abstract
In an effort to improve operational safety of ore handling equipment used in the metal and nonmetal mining industry, research was conducted to identify existing safety hazards associated with the operations of orehandling equipment and to recommend practical solutions that will minimize hazards and reduce operator injuries. Detailed recommendations have been developed based on historical accident analysis, field observations of equipment operators, in- depth interviews with the various personnel in the mining industry, and an industrial engineering evaluation of equipment capabilities and limitations.
