Development of Training and Data for Specifying and Maintaining Mine Illumination Systems.

The purpose of this investigation was to provide information that will assist in specifying and maintaining satisfactory illumination systems on underground mining machines. The objectives were to (1) consolidate, maintain, and distribute information on approved lighting systems; (2) develop and present 1-day seminars on underground mine lighting; and (3) determine direct labor and hardware costs associated with the installation of mine illumination systems. A summary of the background information considered in developing the requirements, work procedures used in carrying out each task, and the results are included.
