The results of an experimental program to evaluate subsystems of dicur, a differential current measurement system for the detection of low current faults on mine haulage system, are described. Tests were conducted to determine transmitter power for the telemetering locomotive load current data and the performance of a high current shunt. A dicur system was simulated and tested in the laboratory using a model locomotive having current magnitudes scaled down by a factor of 1,500 to 1. The report also discusses application and design of isolation diodes for mine haulage systems and presents an analyses of a random multiplexing telemetering system for the transmission of load current magnitudes.
