NTIS: PB/235-640 Available for Reference At Bureau Libraries :99 pages
Electrical cables are frequently damaged while in use, especially on continuous miners, and because of their weight and damaged condition present a safety hazard to personnel required to handle them. This report (Contract No. H0122011) presents the results of a feasibility study on techniques to improve trailing cable support and handling of power cables, describes the design for a proposed cable handling device, and concludes with a recommendation for future action to construct a test rig to evaluate the cable reel system.
