The objectives of this study were to review the results of the Rushton Mining Company experiment in work organization and design, to explore the extension of knowledge gained from the experiment to other underground coal mines, and to conduct a search for a potential mine site for a demonstration project. The primary focus was on a search process to provide the research team with the opportunity to evaluate the different potential experimental sites in order to select one or more with the highest potential for success.
