The objective of this investigation is to identify factors governing the effectiveness of roof bolting systems using fully resin-grouted nontensioned bolts for reinforcement of bedded mine roofs and to develop design criteria for such plans. Volume I presents a summary of work done, a background study, and a literature review on resin bolting, mine analysis, and coal and rock properties. Strength and stiffness properties of resin bolts under both axial and shear loadings are considered in detail. Mechanisms of roof reinforcement using resin bolts are reviewed. Associated mine analyses including the effects of in situ conditions are included.
