Feasibility Study of Surface Impregnation Equipment for Chemical Stabilization of Coal Mine Structures, 4 Volume Set, Volume 3 - Final Report, Phase II.

This report discusses the establishment of a complete design for impregnation equipment for chemical stabilization of coal mine structures and determination of the economics of constructing, using, and maintaining the impregnation equipment designed. It covers a general description of the polymer impregnation machine, the meter and feed system, followed by a detailed account of the design selection process for each major subassembly. Most of the design was conducted without benefit of any testing of hardware. Items designed without testing include the drill and nozzle installer mechanism, boom and linkages, roof support system, and vehicle and controls. The report states that these designs are based on similar equipment currently in use and should , therefore, incur minimal problems when fabricated and assembled into a prototype.
