Feasibility Study of Surface Impregnation Equipment for Chemical Stabilization of Coal Mine Structures, 4 Volume Set, Volume 4 - Final Report, Phase III Assist Technique.

This report summarizes the results of this investigation, and concludes that (1) ultrasonic energy is potentially capable of increasing polymer uptake into shale (above that experienced under static pressure): (2) adaptation to the impregnation machine design presented under the earlier contract is practical with minor modification; and (3) equipment and hardware to characterize and demonstrate the mechanism is commercially available.
