Abstract
This report presents the results of an extensive program of temperature measurement around openings at the No. 4 Mine of the Mid-Continent Coal and Coke Company near Redstone, Colorado. Temperature profiles are given for 20 locations in the coal mine. Virgin rock temperatures were determined from measurements made in five long holes. Thermal properties of the coal and shale roof rock were determined. The experimental results were compared to those predicted using steady-state heat flow models.
