Low Cost Cylindrical Stress Gage.
NTIS: PB/243-374 Available for Reference At Bureau Libraries :145 pages
A permissible, low-cost, cylindrical stress gage for use in measuring changing stress conditions in mine structures was designed, fabricated, and tested. The gage measures the changing vibrating characteristics of a pretensioned wire within a 1 1/2-inch integral unit installed in a borehole. Field testing data are presented that show conclusively the merits of this gage and indicate its many possible uses. Laboratory tests to determine the long-term stability and readout accuracy of the gage are described.
