Procurement of coal and coal measure rocks from the York Canyon and Old Ben No. 24 Mines was undertaken. Testing of rocks from Beehive, Federal No. 2, and York Canyon Mines was completed to obtain mechanical, index, and geological properties which were analyzed and correlated for strata zonation. Cubical testing of beehive coal to determine the complete compliance matrix was completed. Strength characteristics of all coal types tested in this project were analyzed together with additional information obtained in other investigations. Triaxial creep of coal was continued, with focus on boundary drainage of the specimen and on behavior at high stress levels. Creep testing of York Canyon rocks showed that very little time-dependent response was obtained.
