Abstract
A continuous-recording methanometer utilizing a catalytic combustion detector has been developed and is presently operating at 22 exhaust fans at 14 mines in the eastern coalfields. The instrument is reliable and simple to install, operate, and maintain. The instrument and the details of its installation and calibration are described. Analytical data obtained by infrared spectrophotometer and gas chromatograph are presented to substantiate its reliability.
