This report (Contract No. S0230037) was prepared by the University of Idaho for the Bureau of Mines to provide a survey and analysis of noncoal mine ventilation and emergency escape plans with recommendations for improving existing systems. The ventilation systems and emergency escape plans for 16 underground noncoal mines were determined, evaluated, and analyzed. Possible hazards related to the ventilation system were identified for each mine and means to overcome them were recommended. The report includes a summary, which briefly describes the ventilation system for each mine and discusses problems that are common to a number of them.
