A Physical Description of Coal Mine Explosions.
15th Int'l Symp on Combustion Tokyo Japan 8/25-31/74 Comb Inst Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, PP 115-126 :115-126
The federal Bureau of Mines has conducted research in the causes and prevention of coal mine explosions in its experimental mine. As a result of intensive instrumentation of this full-scale facility and systematic analysis of results, a physical description of coal mine explosions is presented, with emphasis on unsteady fluid dynamics. In a single long entry, useful correlations are shown between flame speed, particle velocity, and static pressure rise.
