A transient dust-flame model: application to coal-dust flames.

A transient model of dust combustion is presented in which processes such as solid pyrolysis, gaseous combustion, solid-gas combustion, radiation transport, mass and thermal diffusion, and convection have been considered. It is assumed that each dust particle and its immediate-gaseous envelope do not influence their nearest- neighboring similar systems. Application of this model to coal dust- air mixtures yields results in good agreement with the experimental observations of other researchers.
