Improved Sensors and Fire Control Systems for Mining Equipment.

Effective fire protection can be obtained with current technology for mining equipment at moderate cost under a system developed under Contract No. H0122053. This report presents the study conducted by the FMC Corp., highlighting those features found to be effective in warning truck operators in mines of the danger of a conflagration in their piece of equipment. The equipment was tested on site in a mine and results of the investigation are given.
