Previous work performed under Contract No. H022003 suggested that the mean incombustible content could be obtained with fewer samples and smaller samples without greatly increasing the sampling error. Under modification No. 4, Additional surveys were made in 12 coal mines representing 6 states. Some 2,500 samples were collected, analyzed for incombustible content, and statistically evaluated. The earlier findings were substantiated.
