Feasibility Study of Portable Calibration Instrumentation for Audio Dosimeters.
NTIS: PB/242-577 :93 pages
The report discusses the feasibility of building a portable instrument to calibrate audio dosimeters in the field. Commercially available equipment was surveyed and found not to satisfy the desired specifications. The study found that available calibration techniques could not simultaneously produce the multiple levels and frequencies to the desired accuracy. The possibility of relaxing the specifications was considered, and a technique that might then be suitable was proposed. A research effort to develop a calibrator was recommended.
