NTIS: PB/253-257 Available for Reference At Bureau Libraries :156 pages
Recent studies aimed at defining the noise problems in coal preparation plants showed that chutes and screens constitute the most prevalent sources of noise in such plants. The result of a research program with the objectives of an in-depth investigation of the noise generating mechanisms of chutes and screens and the development of design guidelines for cost-effective quieting of chutes and screens are contained in this report. Having identified coal impacts and the drive mechanism as the primary sources of noise, methods using vibration isolation and damping and resilient layer techniques have been recommended for source treatment.
