One of the established goals of the Bureau of Mines is the development of engineering procedures for the control of respirable dust and thereby the prevention of coal pneumoconiosis in the shortest possible time. This article evaluates the commonly used dust sampling membrane filters for use in the scanning electron microscope (SEM).
