Penetration Characteristics of the 10 Mm Nylon Cyclone.

The objective of this work (contract No. G0110124) was to determine the flow rate at which the 10-mm nylon cyclone samples coal dust in accordance with the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) definition of respirable dust. Penetration of coal dust through the nylon cyclone was measured at flow rates of 1.8 and 2.0 Liters per minute over a wide range of humidities. The penetration data was found to more closely match the aec standard at a cyclone flow rate of 2.0 Liters per minute rather than 1.8 Liters per minute. Relative humidity was not found to have a significant effect on the results.
