This paper presents the final results of a Bureau of Mines sponsored test program on the effects of both deep cutting and bit speed on respirable dust and specific energy, and the impact these results will have on future coal-mining-machine designs. The preliminary results of these tests were presented at a Bureau of Mines technology transfer meeting in 1976.
