Abacus Management Group, Inc., Cranston, New Jersey 1993; :1-68
An approach for the establishment and implementation of an occupational safety program was described. Under this method a Safety Committee was established to identify safety issues, address and solve safety problems, and manage day to day safety operations. Recommendations for the organization and operation of such a committee were presented. The roles of the Safety Committee and its individual members in investigations of occupational accidents were described. Other aspects of the occupational safety program included policies regarding company self inspections, analysis of accident and injury records and subsequent problem solving, and effective training programs and procedures to establish and maintain safe work practices. A workbook containing samples of a Safety Committee Roster, an accident investigation report, self inspection checklists, and a self improvement safety plan, and a description of specific techniques for analysis and problem solving and behavior management was included.
