NIOSHTIC-2 Publications Search
Report of Search Strategy and Sources for Foundries.
JRB Associates, Inc., McLean, Virginia 1978 Jul:16 pages
The method used in literature searching to identify and search technical sources to be used in the production of foundry criteria documents was described. The first step was to identify potential sources of information on potential occupational health and safety hazards associated with foundry work, foundry processes, occupational exposures, and control of exposures. Secondly, sources needed to be searched to yield either useable literature or additional sources to be searched. This process yielded an extensive bibliography, from which references would be selected for acquisition. A tracking system was developed to follow retrieval, translation, duplication, and evaluation of each selected piece of literature. Lists of sources already identified were provided along with terms used in searching. The ultimate goal of the search strategy was to yield all the primary source literature relevant to criteria for a recommended standard for occupational exposure in the foundry industry.
