New opportunities for interdisciplinary cancer communication.
Cancer Epidemiol Biomark Prev 1991 Nov-Dec; 1(1):3-4
New opportunities for cancer communication presented by the new journal, Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention, were discussed. This journal provides a single forum for discussion of the many advances being made in cancer research from a wide variety of researchers. By highlighting the interdisciplinary aspects of cancer research, the journal holds the promise of enabling investigators in such disparate fields as epidemiology, prevention, biomarker analysis, and treatment to benefit from new developments while minimizing the reductionist view often held by specialists. The juxtaposition of these disparate research approaches creates the opportunity to assess the whole body of cancer research, and hopefully to identify areas in need of additional investigation and study.
