PAT program report: background and current status.

Abstract
A total of 1452 laboratories participated in the Proficiency Analytical Testing (PAT) Program of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) on Round 106. The program was designed to evaluate the performance of various laboratories on standardized samples and to offer assistance in the way of instructions to improve performance. This round showed a small decrease in the number of laboratories rated nonproficient with a total of 90.4% of the labs being rated as proficient. The upcoming round, Round 107, contained organic solvents including carbon-tetrachloride (56235), 1,2-dichloroethane (107062), and trichloroethylene (79016). Metals in this round included cadmium (7440439), lead (7439921), and zinc (7440666). Also contained was silica (7631869) and coal mine dust background and the asbestos (1332214) was chrysotile (12001295).
