This report presented a summary of highlights from the Fiscal Year 1988 activities of NIOSH. General topics covered in this report included: occupational lung diseases, musculoskeletal injuries, occupational cancers, severe occupational traumatic injuries, occupational cardiovascular diseases, disorders of reproduction, neurotoxic disorders, noise induced hearing loss, dermatological conditions, psychological disorders, and policy development. Some of the specific topics considered include radiation exposure in the mining industry, endotoxin exposure in the cotton processing industry, silicosis, lung testing equipment, mine dust exposures, coal-tar-pitch, lead (7439921) poisoning, dioxin exposure, spray painting, anesthetics, organic solvents, robotics, falls from structures, safe work practices, mechanical power presses, and industrial equipment.
