Cincinnati, OH: U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, Public Health Service, Centers for Disease Control, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, DHEW (NIOSH) Publication No. 76-173, 1976 Jun; :1-265
A report was provided which included formal presentations by nine invited participants and one NIOSH representative on topics related to applications of thermal analytical techniques and potential applications to the problems of occupational health. Particular emphasis was directed to measuring airborne quartz (14808607) and asbestos (1332214). Specific topics covered included the application of thermal analysis methods to air pollution studies, the measurement of very small quantities of asbestos and quartz, thermal analysis of particulate quartz and polymer decompositions, experimental techniques in mineralogy, thermal analysis and thermal batteries, thermal analysis and mass spectrometry, applications of thermal analysis to cold regions, overviews of NIOSH problems, problems in quantitative measurements, the quantitative determination of respirable quartz by x-ray diffraction, and improved quantitative x-ray diffraction determination of respirable free silica.
