Workshop Development Of Recommended Standard For Manufacture And Formulation Of Pesticides And Areas Of Needed Research.
Transcript of Proceedings, Food and Drug Administration, Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, Rockville, Maryland, 1976 Aug:189 pages
The results of a workshop to develop a recommended standard for manufacture and formulation of pesticides and areas of needed research was reported. Representatives from NIOSH and OSHA, as well as from other governmental agencies attended the workshop. They discussed NIOSH plans to develop an overall standard for the manufacture and formulation of pesticides and attempted to identify research necessary to develop the standard and procedures for enforcement. Responsibilities and activities of the nonoccupational agencies involved in pesticide research were discussed. Status of sampling and analytical methods for environmental monitoring was presented. Penetration tests and reentry studies were discussed, as were the problems with personal monitoring of the population at risk. Engineering controls in production were seen as an area for further research efforts; work practices and medical surveillance were considered of equal importance in minimizing worker exposure.
