NIOSH Analytical Methods for Set M.

Industrial hygiene sampling and analytical monitoring methods are presented for copper (7440508), mists and dusts, molybdenum (7439987) in soluble compounds, phthalic-anhydride (85449), rhodium (7440166) as metal fume and dust, zirconium (7440677) compounds, 2- hexanone (591786), phosphoric-acid (7664382), platinum (7440064) as soluble salts, and rhodium as soluble salts. The methods are validated under the joint NIOSH/OSHA Standards Completion Program for Set-M. For each compound, the analyte, matrix, OSHA standard, and validation date are given, and the method is described in terms of the principle of the method, range and sensitivity, interferences, precision and accuracy, advantages and disadvantages, apparatus, reagents, detailed procedure, analysis, sample recovery, calibration and standards, calculations, and references. Most compounds are collected by filter collection and analyses are by atomic absorption, gas or liquid chromatography, or colorimetry. The methods are verified as suitable for measuring airborne concentrations of the listed compounds, but other methods meeting the accuracy requirements may be used.
