The Generation of Metal Fumes for Method Testing and Instrument Evaluation.

Abstract
A metal fume generation system was developed for method testing and instrument evaluation. The fumes were derived from vaporization and condensation of molten metal. They were diluted to desired concentration in a sampling chamber. This system was used to produce antimony (7440360), lead (7439921), copper (7440508), and nickel (7440020) fumes. Fumes were useful for testing particle measuring instruments, sampling filters, and analytical method development. The authors conclude that the results are reproducible.
