Review of Uranium Miners Study and Statements of Outstanding Problems.

A statement on the overall problems surrounding research by the Public Health Service (PHS) into the effects of uranium mining is presented. The history of uranium mining research conducted by the PHS to date, a pertinent Governors' Conference, and organization of the research are discussed. The present status of the uranium miners study is surveyed. The authors conclude that additional uranium mining research is warranted, subject to certain general modifications.
