An Analytical Method for Respirator Performance Prediction Utilizing the Quantitative Fit Test (QNFT).

An analytical method for evaluating the magnitude of the safety factor in respirator performance is presented. The method utilizes a Quantitative Fit Test to measure a Fit Factor which is representative of the ratio of breathing to fit leakage flow rates. Equivalence equations for concentration and leakage measurements are derived and the dependence of these equivalence relationships on filtration efficiency, breathing, resistance, and variability of fit are examined.
