Solid Adsorbents Used In Gas Masks In Japan.
NIOSH 1980 Sep:113-124
Industrial gas masks and chemical cartridge respirators used in Japan are described and information on the traditional and newly developed solid adsorbents used in the canisters and cartridges is presented. The classification of gas masks contained in Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) T8152 is discussed. Information concerning the practical application of gas masks available to purchasers of canisters and cartridges is described. The gas adsorption properties of solid adsorbents used in gas masks in Japan are discussed. Efforts to develop new adsorbents and new functions, being incorporated into gas masks are described. The author concludes that there is a need for international cooperation in the development of respirators effective against newly identified toxic materials and of precise technical information on the application of such respirators.
