Results of Air Sampling of Kawecki Berylco Plant, at Kawecki Berylco Industries, Hazelton, Pennsylvania.
NIOSH 1971 Nov:30 pages
Worker exposures to beryllium (7440417) were determined at the Kawecki Berylco Facility (SIC-3339) in Hazelton, Pennsylvania on November 8 to 12, 1971. A total of 238 personal air samples were collected. Beryllium concentrations ranged from none detected to 2889.00 micrograms per cubic meter, with beryllium concentrations highest in those areas where beryllium metal powder was handled. The author concludes that beryllium exposures were under control except in those operations associated with powdering, where the daily weighed average was 49.4 micrograms per cubic centimeter. He recommends that immediate control measures be taken to correct the out of control conditions that exist in the powder handling areas.
