Abstract
A final report for a contract to evaluate quality control plans of manufacturers applying for certification under NIOSH regulations was described. Quality control plans of 19 manufacturers applying for certification under NIOSH regulations for industrial hygiene instruments were reviewed and evaluated, and four quality surveys were made. Twenty four calibration procedures were prepared, submitted, and introduced into the calibration system for use by laboratories that may come under contract for testing certified industrial hygiene instruments and personal protective devices. Three presentations on quality control were made at formal NIOSH training courses and four presentations at informal training and educational sessions. A control procedure was developed for laboratories using carcinogens or analyzing for such substances and appended to the TR-78-NIOSH Laboratory Quality Control Manual. A copy of the contract was attached to the final report.
