Information on the use and hazards of flammable solids in industry is reviewed. The materials under question and the industries associated with these materials are discussed. Causes, prevention, and control of industrial fires and explosions involving flammable solids are reviewed. Accident factors and the population at risk are described. Existing codes and regulations are summarized. The authors recommend that additional data be collected to study the effectiveness of the current standards.
