Investigation of Agents Which are Newly Suspected as Occupational Health Hazards, Phase One Report: Epichlorohydrin.

The occupational health hazards associated with epichlorohydrin (106898) are discussed. The structure, physical and chemical properties of the compound are presented. The animal and human toxicity are described. Experimental evidence concerning the carcinogenic properties of the compound is presented. The biological properties of the compound are reviewed. The production and uses in epoxy resins, highway traffic paints, and starch modification are discussed. Study methods, walk through surveys, industrial hygiene surveys and sampling and analytical methods are discussed. The microfilming equipment used was illustrated. The authors recommend that walk through surveys be authorized for two manufacturers and two users, as outlined in this report.
