Analytical Methods Evaluation and Validation for Vinylidene Fluoride, Vinyl Bromide, Vinyl Fluoride, Benzene.
NIOSH 1982 Jan:21 pages
Methods for the personal monitoring of vinylidene-fluoride (75387), vinyl-fluoride (75025), vinyl-bromide (593602), benzenethiol (108985), and n-octanethiol were sought. Satisfactory methods for vinyl-bromide and n-octanethiol were developed. The method for the former involved adsorption of the compound on activated coconut charcoal, desorption with ethanol, and determination by gas chromatography with flame ionization detection. The method for the latter involved the collection of the compound on polymer of 2,6- diphenyl-p-phenylene oxide, desorption with acetone, and determination by gas chromatography with sulphur specific flame photometric detection. Methods developed for the other compounds were only partially successful. The author suggests avenues for future development.
