Abstract
The potential health hazards associated with the pulp and paper mill industry were investigated. A process/operations approach was used to identify potential chemical and physical hazards to workers. The likely biological consequences of exposure to potential hazards were summarized. Ways of limiting worker exposure and some technical trends that may influence worker exposure to additional hazards were described. Description of pulp and paper mill operations, OSHA regulations, NIOSH national occupational hazard survey information, OSHA tests for hazardous substances, and OSHA citations are appended.
