Abstract
Worker exposures to paraquat (1910425) were assessed at Kugler Oil Company (SIC-2869) in Culbertson, Nebraska on July 16 and 17, 1981. The company was selected as being representative of a ground spray application of paraquat in no tillage farming applications in the Midwest. The company employed 10 to 12 personnel. Personal air sampling during field spray application was conducted. Airborne concentrations of paraquat were up to 6.4 micrograms per cubic meter. The authors conclude that there was not significant potential for inhalation exposure to paraquat and the protective measures and equipment presently in use effectively minimize health risk from skin or eye contact exposure.
