Terphenyls: Preliminary Report of Plants and Processes.
NIOSH 1981 Aug:37 pages
The characteristics and industrial uses of terphenyls are reviewed. The physical properties of para-terphenyl (92944), meta-terphenyl, and ortho-terphenyl (84151), are described. Production processes using benzene (71432), and the separation and isomerizations of terphenyls are discussed. Production volume of terphenyls and isomers in the various manufacturing facilities is given. Worker exposures and toxicity of terphenyl and isomers are also discussed. Recommended exposure limits are included for terphenyl and hydrogenated terphenyls. A list is provided of terphenyl producers, distributors, and users, of trade associations, and of labor unions.
