Motivational Assisted Spirometry System (Mass) Development.
Bio-Logics, Inc., West Jordon, Utah 1971 Oct:20 pages
A Motivational Assisted Spirometry System (MASS) is described. A MASS interface, used in conjunction with a health testing system and a spirometer, is diagrammed. Functional descriptions are presented for the hardware and software. Calibration, patient information, reporting procedures, and data recall are discussed. The authors note that the MASS system was designed to provide an interface device between the computer and a lamp display used to motivate patients performing vital capacity studies to interface spirometer signals into the health testing system, to develop a computer program to derive the lamp display, and to integrate the MASS program into a data reduction program for field surveys.
