The health effects of dichloropropanes are reviewed. The extent and degree of occupational exposure to 1,2-dichloropropanes are discussed in terms of specific occupations, and other sources of exposure to dichloropropanes and dichloropropenes are also described. The biological effects of 1,2-dichloropropane and 1,3- dichloropropene, and formulations consisting of a combination of these agents are discussed. A summary of toxicity data for nonpropane and nonpropene components of formulations consisting of a combination of these agents are discussed. A summary of toxicity data for nonpropane and nonpropene components of formulations containing 1,2-dichloropropane is presented. Existing exposure standards throughout the world are described, and their discrepancies discussed. The authors recommend additional research and studies to formulate accurate exposure standards.
