Abstract
Exposures to food additives, food dyes, and insecticides were investigated at General Foods (SIC-2090) in Lafayette, Indiana, on April 13 to 14, 1981. An unidentified individual requested the evaluation on behalf of 47 workers. General medical epidemiological questionnaires were administered, work practices were observed, and toxicity data on the chemicals used was collected. No serious work related adverse health effects were revealed by the medical questionnaires. Working conditions were hygienic and ventilation was effective. Most of the materials utilized in the production process were of negligible or extremely low toxicity. The authors conclude that no hazardous exposures to food additives, food dyes, or insecticides are present at this facility.
